Our Pastor & Church Officers
Pastor Mark Bassett
Mark Bassett joined the church as Pastor in 2013. He was brought up near to Diss in Norfolk. It was there just before entering his teenage years that he became a Christian. Although his parents were Christians and had taken Mark with them to church from the beginning of his life, it was not until this time that Mark accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.
Finishing his high school education, Mark went on to train as a Carpenter/Joiner. For fifteen years Mark worked for two companies and in the last few years ran his own joinery business. This was before Mark and his wife Rachel moved away from Norfolk to attend the Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh.
There after two years of study Mark and Rachel joined the staff. Two years later they left the Faith Mission to take up a Pastorate in Preston, Lancashire before his present settlement here in Chorley. Mark and Rachel also have two daughters who also attend the church.
Our Church Officers
Bernard moved to Chorley thirty years ago along with his wife Yvonne and there then young children. He has served in the church both as a deacon and elder during those years. People have sometimes said they think Bernard must have been a teacher, but in fact he spent his early working life connected to agriculture. Now retired Bernard enjoys gardening and follows England’s cricket matches. Both of these interests take second place to Bernard’s love for Jesus. As a younger man Bernard trained at London Bible College and since that time has had an itinerant ministry in local churches, he regularly stands in for our Pastor when he is away.
Ephraim Thomas (Deacon) became a Christian in India when he was 10 years old. He moved to the UK in 2003 and is originally from Mumbai, India but was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has been attending Evangelical Free Church Chorley since 2003 and is married to Lydia. He works with Forklift trucks and enjoys playing Badminton.
